Progress Report Socio-Economic-Demographic Factors, Health Status and Exercise of the Thai Population

Abstract:

The physical health of Thais has steadily improved. The average life expectancy of Thais has increased to 69.5 and 76.3 for men and women respectively. Mortality rates of those of working age are falling. Accordingly, this study aims to examine in what extent the socio-economic-demographic factors, psychological factors, health related behavior and community factors influence on health status and exercise.
 
By employing data from the project on evaluation of health promotion and sports in local region 2010 this study included person who aged more than 15 years and were living in both rural and urban area which was 8,617 cases. The multiple logistic regressions was implemented to analysis the relationship among factors.
 
This study found mostly the respondent are men (61.4 %) and have primary school (62.2 percent). The middle age 40-59 years old are occupied almost half of respondents.We found the gender, marital status, education, occupation, region, perceive of benefit,involvement on sport campaignand exercise facility have significant association with the exercise. Moreover, it was found that Occupation, Region, Knowledge about exercise, Attitude toward exercise,Exercise and involving to Health/sport clubhave significant association with health status.
