Using U.S. Laws to Hold Corporations Accountable for Forced Labor in Asia and the Pacific

Abstract

Civil Society, NGOs, trade unions often form global coalitions for improving labor, human rights, and environmental standards by contributing to the U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000. How does this process happen in Thailand? What measures determine what is or is not sufficient progress? What kind of evidence is used for consultations, who are the frontline worker organizations, and how are labor trafficking cases in particular documented- for prevention, protection, prosecution? What are the obstacles in legal prosecutions for labor trafficking in Thailand?
