Abstract
Thailand is confronting a population ageing. The burden of ageing society can be decreased by enabling older persons to maintain their health including physical and mental health and also facilitate them to continued engagement in the society. These approaches are the same as the concept of successful ageing (SA). This study aims to develop the causal relationships of SA focused on the components of Rowe and Kahn’s model (researcher-defined) and older person-defined, demonstrate the direct and indirect effects of Rowe and Kahn’s model and older person-defined that have on SA, and explore the similarity of the causal model depending on the different three older age groups and patterns of living arrangement.
In the seminar I would like to demonstrate my ideas whether what is SA, why is SA important for solving the burdens of ageing society, why the comparison of researcher-defined and older person-defined of SA is important, what is this research methodology, and what are the outcome expectations of this research. However, these are just only my views. I strongly belief that attendees’ suggestions and comments are help me greatly to develop my research project.
