Abstract:
As the growth of urbanization and modern job pull rural-urban migrant that generate the existing of skipped generation left behind. So, this study focuses on the intergeneration support which was measured through the remittance in Thai context especially for elderly in skipped generation household. The data from the Kanchanaburi Demographic Surveillance System (KDSS): Health and Social Support for Elderly Survey Round 2 (2007) were obtained for analysis. The selection model (Heckman) revealed the elderly who live in skipped generation household, stay with spouse, and living in wealth household are more positively received remittance than other elderly. Besides, age of elderly and living in remote area have negatively affected on the amount of remittance. Interestingly, the amount of remittance received for elderly in skipped generation household was less than expected for daily living by average.
