This documentation synthesizes a field study conducted from December 15–21, 2025, evaluating multi-level health and community-led initiatives in Chiang Mai. Through seven organizational visits, the trip explored multi-stakeholder approaches to population health and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) tailored to the regional landscape. These engagements illustrated how diverse sectors address the needs of vulnerable populations, including women, children, the elderly, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and ethnic migrants. A prominent theme was the transition toward integrated “one-stop shop” service models, exemplified by the Hug Project’s child-friendly justice initiatives and Maharaj Nakhon Chiangmai Hospital’s comprehensive abuse protection units. These institutional frameworks are balanced by community resilience, seen in FOPDEV’s community-led volunteer programs and Pa Tan School’s integration of vocational training for ethnic youth. Furthermore, transformative leadership was observed in Pa Sak Subdistrict, where their local leader leveraged social capital to execute community-driven interventions. Despite these successes, structural barriers persist, specifically funding instability and human resource constraints. While Thailand possesses robust social protection frameworks, a gap remains between formal policy and the lived realities of marginalized groups. Organizations like Philanthropy Connections (PCF) bridge this gap for undocumented populations, while Caremat Foundation faces sustainability challenges during its transition to domestic (NHSO) funding. Critically, daily reflection sessions allowed students to analyze the information presented and identify how these insights could strengthen their individual areas of study. These sessions served to hone qualitative data-gathering skills and allowed practical application to supplement theoretical concepts. Ultimately, the excursion integrated a deeper historical understanding of Chiang Mai’s culture with the contemporary challenges of the populations served, aligning regional efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
