Changes in Health-related Quality of Life of Elderly People: A Longitudinal Study in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand

Abstract

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is commonly related to dementia and depression in ageing population. This study focuses mainly on examining changes in social determinants of health (SDH) toward changes in HRQOL.  The SDH are recognized as the important factors toward health conditions. In order to understand more about causal relationship between these changes, the longitudinal analysis should be employed.

I would like to invite you to join my progress of how to study changes in HRQOL. The progress report presents the overall summary of the study in order to show the rationale, the conceptual framework, the methodology, and the preliminary result. According to the bivariate analysis, the results indicate more comprehension about association between demographic and SDH characteristics of the elderly toward HRQOL. The findings also show distributions and trends of these characteristics toward HRQOL.

Nonetheless, the longitudinal analysis which is the most important part is still in progress. More importantly, I am confident that any comments and suggestions will be very useful to improve the methodology and to fulfill the objectives of the study.
