Abstract
The presentation details the history of the CLHNS, its study and sampling design and the attrition of the sample of mothers and index children over time. It describes the data collection protocol: its multi-level approach, and the core and specialized modules used in the baseline and follow up surveys that now span over of 30 years of study. An illustration of the file and data structure and variable matrix is also presented. Substantive contributions from various collaborators are summarized, but highlight is given to CLHNS’ contribution in support of the First 1,000 Days Health and Nutrition advocacy for mothers and infants. The presentation ends with guidelines for accessing the CLHNS data in the public and non-public domains.
BRIEF BIOSKETCH
Socorro A. Gultiano
Socorro Gultiano is a recently retired Research Fellow of the University of San Carlos Office of Population Studies Foundation in Cebu City, Philippines. She obtained her PhD in Demography from the Australian National University; a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics; a Masters Degree in Sociology from Xavier University, and a Bachelors Degree Major in Sociology-Anthropology at the University of San Carlos. She received various trainings including those at the East-West Center and the Carolina Population Center of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and was former President and Trustee of the Philippine Population Association and once served as the Secretary General of the Asian Population Association.
