From 2016-2021, an international sex trafficking scheme was exposed trafficking hundreds of Thai women across Europe and the US. In 2021, 36 defendants in the US were sentenced for engaging crimes related to human trafficking. The Thai Community Development Center was the community based organization working with the US Prosecution and Investigation team and has modeled survivor-centered approaches to social services and access to justice for nearly three decades. Panida Rzonca and Tonya Price (invited) will detail lessons learned from the case. The session will include an interactive discussion on how victim service providers as well as law enforcement can work together in a victim centric and trauma informed space to ensure justice.
