The Tobacco Control Research and Knowledge Management Center urges tobacco companies to abide by law to enlarge tobacco warnings to 85%

Assoc. Prof. Buppha Sirirassamee, Head of the Project “International Tobacco Control Policy in Thailand” reported the result of the 2009-2011 survey on picture warnings on cigarette packets that the color pictures were proved to be better than black and white. The fonts of warning messages, enlarged from 50% to 55% covering the packet area, slightly gave the messages credibility, causing smokers to think of harm from smoking. All these resulted in law enactment by Ministry of Public Health to enlarge the warming messages to cover 85% of the packet area.
