Press conference to launch a research project on “Estimating the Size of the LGBT Population and the Life Situation and Health of LGBTQ+ People.”

On 16 May 2024, the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kritaya Archavanitkul (project advisor) and Ms. Kulapa Vajanasara (project leader), along with Acting Second Lieutenant Niphon Darawuttimaprakorn and project researchers, received support from Thai Health Promotion Foundation. They held a press conference to launch a research project on “Estimating the Size of the LGBT Population and the Life Situation and Health of LGBTQ+ People.” The event was honored by the presence of Ms. Pharanee Phuprasert, Director of the Bureau for Supporting the Health of Specific Population Groups (Office 9), Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Ms. Kanchana Phumalee, representative of the National Statistical Office, Prof. Dr. Patama Vapattanawong, representative of the working group on developing estimation methods and lecturer at the Institute for Population and Social Research, and Ms. Waaddao Chumaporn, representative of civil society regarding the diverse gender population. They joined in presenting the importance of estimating the size of the LGBTQ+ population.

The event took place at Room 201, 2nd Floor, Health Learning Center Building, Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Bangkok, and was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kritaya Archavanitkul.
