Conference: ‘Food Marketing – Unpacking the Evidence to Guide Policies for Preventing Harmful Marketing Impacts’

On October 11, 2023, Dr. Nongnuch Jindarattanaporn, a lecturer from The Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University, attended a meeting with the World Health Organization for South and East Asia (WHO-SEARO). This meeting, held online via the Zoom platform, focused on ‘Food marketing: unpacking the evidence to guide policies to prevent harmful impacts of marketing.’ It aimed to inform participants about marketing techniques for foods and beverages high in fat, sodium, and sugar, which affect children’s consumption of these products. Additionally, the meeting involved a comparative analysis of tobacco marketing and breast milk substitutes in relation to food marketing, including emerging marketing strategies.
