Training course ‘Health Promotion Strategies for Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention’

Between October 1st and October 8th, 2023, the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Center (TPAK) led by Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, organized the training course ‘Health Promotion Strategies for Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention.’ This course was designed for 40 faculty members and students from the Faculty of Public Health at Diponegoro University, Indonesia. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchada Thaweesit, Deputy Director of Research, Finance, and Procurement, delivered a welcome speech in the Rachawadee Room (Room 326), located on the 3rd floor of the institute.

During this training, the participants had the opportunity to go on a study tour at the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and attended the 23rd International Conference of Public Health Sciences, organized by the College of Public Health Sciences at Chulalongkorn University, held at the Mandarin Hotel in Bangkok.

Following these activities, they engaged in lectures covering various topics, led by faculty members and researchers from the institute. The lecturers included Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bhubate Samutachak, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manasigan Kanchanachitra, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nucharapon Liangruenrom, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirinya Phulkerd, Ms. Rungrat Palakai, and Dr. Piyakrita Kaewpikul.

Furthermore, they actively participated in the WalkShop activity, led by TPAK professors and researchers, which took place within the Mahidol University area. The WalkShop involved walking meetings and idea exchange during the walk, providing an opportunity to increase physical activity for better health and reduce sedentary behavior.
