Stakeholder Meeting “Social Lab: Caring for Work, Working for Care Migrant in Elderly Care

On September 28, 2023, the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University, in collaboration with network partners, organized a Stakeholder Meeting titled ‘Social Lab: Caring for Work, Working for Care – Migrants in Elderly Care.’ The event was inaugurated by Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communications at Mahidol University, and led by Associate Professor Dr. Sudarat Musikawong, Deputy Director of International Relations, Cooperation, and Networking. During the meeting, participants discussed methods to enhance the certification process for migrant workers involved in elderly care and long-term dependency assistance, taking into account language and cultural differences.

The meeting also addressed the development of manuals and multimedia materials demonstrating the standards for caregiving in alignment with migrant workers’ rights. Further discussions centered on training and the design of training manuals, as well as the assessment of training plans. This event brought together academics, eldercare facility staff, relevant government officials, civil society organizations, representatives from the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Labor, TQPI, IOM, ILO, and employment agencies. The meeting was held in Room 714, 7th floor, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University.
