TPAK organizes a meeting to discuss guidelines for physical activities for Thai preschool children.

On July 8, 2024, the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Center (TPAK) at the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, organized a meeting to discuss guidelines for physical activity for Thai early childhood children. The meeting was honored by Professor Anthony Okely, Distinguished Professor from the School of Health and Society, University of Wollongong, Australia, and leader of the SUNRISE 24-hour physical movement behavior research network in children under 5 years old. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan, Director of the Institute, also gave a warm welcome.

The conference presented research drafts for publication in international journals related to 24-hour physical movement behavior, including an analysis of the situation of 24-hour physical movement behavior in Thailand, factors related to 24-hour physical movement behavior of children under 5 years old in Thailand, and the relationship between 24-hour physical movement behavior and children’s development. The academic team of the TPAK Center, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Director of the TPAK, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari, Head of the Academic Network Development Group, along with TPAK researchers, exchanged and listened to suggestions and opinions from Professor Okely for further research development.

This conference demonstrates the commitment of the Institute for Population and Social Research and the TPAK to developing knowledge on 24-hour physical movement in children under 5 years old to promote the development of Thai children.
