May 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sra Bua Room (109), Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, and online via the Zoom Cloud Meeting system, Thailand Center for Happy Worker Studies (TCHS), Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Office of Health Organization Support, Thai Health Promotion Foundation, along with more than 60 happy university network partners nationwide, organized a meeting to summarize (draft) the proposal “Happy University to Sustainable Health Organization” as a policy of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation 2024-2027. The meeting aimed to gather suggestions and adapt them into a comprehensive proposal to be submitted to the Ministry by July 2024.
Dr. Sampan Silapanad, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Plan 4, Thai Health Promotion Foundation, welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the Thai Health Promotion Foundation places importance on sustainable health, focusing on critical issues such as mental health, food, alcohol, and cigarettes. “I want to see sustainable health conditions for university personnel passed on to students, as they are an important part of driving the nation. I sincerely hope that all network partner universities will achieve sustainable health and jointly bring the proposal ‘Happy University to Sustainable Health Organization’ to fruition as the ‘Happy University Policy towards Sustainable Health Organization’ of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirinan Kittisuksathit, project manager, presented the (draft) proposal for “A Happy University towards a Sustainable Health Organization” to the meeting, encouraging discussion and suggestions. The feedback will be summarized into a complete proposal ready for presentation to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
Prof. Wachira Kochakarn, M.D., Vice President of Mahidol University, expressed his pleasure that Mahidol University is one of the partners in the network of model happiness universities, joining more than 60 universities nationwide. He emphasized the university’s commitment to pushing the “Happy University towards a Sustainable Healthy Organization” policy for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation 2024-2027. He also thanked the coordinating team on behalf of the University Academic Center of Happiness and Sustainable Health Promotion, Mahidol University.
Mr.Wannee Nonsiri, Assistant Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, suggested, “This meeting was beneficial in refining the details of the (draft) proposal due to the cooperation from many network partners in universities across the country. I strongly
agree that promoting ‘A University of Happiness towards a Sustainable, Healthy Organization’ plays an important role in the development of the country’s human resources and knowledge institutions” he concluded the meeting.
