From February 21-22, 2024, the Population and Social Research Institute at Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Dr. Burathep Chokthananukul and research team successfully participated as a research team addressing the issue of educational inequality management. They contributed to discussions and brainstorming sessions at the high-level policy forum meeting titled “Directions for Developing Life Skills for a Sustainable Future of Thailand.” This event was organized in collaboration between the EEF – Equitable Education Fund and the World Bank, held at the World Ballroom B meeting room, Centara Grand Hotel, and Bangkok Convention Center, Central World.
Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, presided over the opening ceremony of the meeting, expressing his vision on the topic “Direction of Development of Life Skills for a Sustainable Future of Thailand.” The meeting aimed to present research results from the survey report conducted by the EEF – Equitable Education Fund and the World Bank on the topic “Promoting Life Skills in Thailand.” Additionally, it aimed to discuss various ways in which governments and stakeholder groups can prepare to address the skills crisis and learn from case studies of leading economies in tackling this issue. Participants included representatives from the policy sector and related agencies (such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Ministry of Interior, and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council), the academic sector, private sector, mass media sector, as well as local and provincial sectors.
