A study of fairness in the food supply chain using the green market mechanism

Between August 18 and 21, 2023, the Green Market Mechanism Study on Food Supply Chain Fairness was conducted as part of the research project on healthy food management systems throughout the chain, and measures to reduce access to unhealthy food for Thai people. This project is supported by ThaiHealth and is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jongjit Rittirong of the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University. The team, including Dr. Pattraporn Chuenglertsiri and Ms. Pimonpan Nitnara, researchers in the project, visited the Tai Node Market in Khuan Khanun District, Phatthalung Province. The purpose of this visit was to understand the mechanisms for producing chemical-free agricultural products and distributing them to consumers, as well as to explore the art, culture, and lifestyle of the local community. During the visit, the team conducted interviews with market managers and engaged in discussions with farmers and sellers within the market.

They sought to comprehend the operational objectives and expectations of producing chemical-free agricultural products. The discussions also delved into the outcomes associated with these products. The Tai Nod Market stands out as a green market with significant potential and an intriguing format. Beyond serving as a platform for the buying and selling of safe agricultural products, it also serves as an educational hub for art and the culture of the southern region.

Additionally, the market hosts rotating events each week, offering a space for people of all genders and ages to gather, share, and learn. The Tai Nod Market operates every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
