“The Care Economy Project” is a project aimed at enhancing the capacity to promote gender-inclusive investment in creating valuable jobs in the Thai economy. It is supported by the International Labour Organization and is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureeporn Punpuing, the project advisor, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bhubate Samutachak, the project leader, along with Dr. Marc Voelker, Dr. Truc Ngoc Hoang Dang, Dr. Burathep Chokthananukul, Miss Kanyapat Suttikasem, Miss Pimolpan Nitnara, and Miss Nutnicha Loyfah. They participated in the Research Report Validation Workshop, “Assessing the coverage and gaps of care service provisions in Thailand with a focus on childcare and long-term care,” which was honored by Mr. Bjorn Johannessen, Acting Director of the ILO Country Office for Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao People’s Democratic Republic, who welcomed them, and Mr. Boonchob Suttamanuswong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, who opened the meeting by emphasizing the role of the Ministry of Labor in developing informal workers into protected and valuable workers. During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bhubate Samutachak, together with Dr. Marc Voelker and Dr. Truc Ngoc Hoang Dang from the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University, presented the evaluation report on the coverage and gaps in the care economy, specifically regarding childcare and long-term care. The meeting took place at the Banglampu Room on the 6th Floor of the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok.
