การดูแลระยะยาวกับระบบหลักประกันสุขภาพถ้วนหน้า

The aging society of Thailand leads to epidemiological transition, shifting from predominant infectious epidemics to high prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCD). Elderly suffering from NCD heavily depend on long term care, in particular the care from family members. However, the capacity of Thai family to take care of the elderly with NCD is decreasing. Additionally, the previous health care system in Thailand has been fragmented, lacked integration, focused on ad hoc and sporadic aiding, and had an ineffective fiscal mechanism. The hospital-based care system was still primarily geared toward acute care. Thus, there was no emphasis on long-term care for elderly with NCD. The National Health Security Office (NHSO) is one of organizations that attempted to push forward community-based long-term care for dependent elderly. This presentation will demonstrate the background, management, and challenges of LTC administered by NHSO
