ABSTRACT
Arriving to Rayong from IPSR, we visited Center for Migrants’ Pre-school Children. They are providing education towards migrants’ children (mainly Cambodian) and helping them to be able to access to Thailand formal school system. We had a chance to learn about migrants’ community situation. Then, we visited to Foundation of AIDS Rights (FAR) which provide health education, condom distribution, case surveillance, counselling, initial treatment, continuation of treatment, referral services in collaboration with health sectors, other organization and key personals in the community. We learned about health services provision, accessibility towards the services from Rayong provincial health office. At the Chanthaburi Immigration Office, we learned about immigration policy towards migrants, cross border situation and challenges, security, law and penalty towards illegal migration.
Overall, this study trip was very great learning experience for all of us who learning advance analysis of migration. Our team will present following the objectives:
- To understand about cross-border migration situations in Chanthaburi province
- To explain migration patterns using international migration theories
- To explain human right situations and social services provision for migrants and their children in Rayong and Chanthaburi
- To explore local integration issues and major challenges for migrants
- To explore the impacts of cross-border migration on Thai communities
