Consultative Meeting on Integrating Demographic Change into Infectious Disease Modeling

On December 17, 2025, Ms. Pornnapat Cherdchinnapa, Pharm.D., a doctoral student (Ph.D.) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Research Assistant at the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP), paid a courtesy visit to Associate Professor Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan, Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, together with Associate Professor Dr. Sutthida Chuanwan, Deputy Director for General Administration.

The meeting aimed to hold an initial consultation on integrating demographic change into infectious disease modeling, recognizing demographic dynamics as one of the critical global trends that must be considered when projecting long-term infectious disease burdens and assessing potential policy impacts.

This meeting marked an important first step in establishing a conceptual framework for integrating demographic science with public health disciplines, which may contribute to evidence-informed policymaking at the national level. It also laid the groundwork for future collaboration, including the possibility of co-supervision of doctoral research.
