On September 16, 2025, the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), together with the Faculty of Medical Technology, Mahidol University, and the Ministry of Education, convened a collaborative meeting on the research project “The Metabolic Health Impacts of Digital Food Marketing on Adolescents.” The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Vice President for Research, Mahidol University, and held at Srabua Room (109), 1st Floor, IPSR, Mahidol University.
Participants included executives and scholars from multiple sectors, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan, Director of IPSR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jongjit Rittirong, Deputy Director for Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirinya Phulkerd, Principal Investigator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirinan Kittisuksathit, Advisor to the Director for Social Enterprise Development, and Dr. Tararat Khaokhiew, Head of Holistic Health and Medical Diagnostic Center, Faculty of Medical Technology, Mahidol University. From the Ministry of Education, participants included Dr. Thanu Khwandech, Secretary-General, Teachers’ Council of Thailand (Khurusapha), Dr. Tussanee Phisanratanakun, Policy and Strategy Advisor, Dr. Pratchayawan Vananan, Educational Administration Systems Advisor, Dr. Phuthorn Janthahong Punyacharasthamrong, Deputy Secretary-General, Office of the Basic Education Commission, Ms. Thipparat Techapakapong, Senior Human Resource Officer, and Ms. Piyamas Hemrattananon, General Administrative Officer.
The meeting aimed to exchange knowledge and develop integrated research frameworks to study the metabolic health effects of adolescents’ exposure to digital food marketing, as well as to analyze comparative regulatory frameworks across four Asian countries. The outcomes are expected to support evidence-based public policy and strategic measures that are effective and sustainable, ultimately enhancing the health and well-being of children and youth at both national and regional levels.
