On January 29, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Jongjit Rittirong, Deputy Director for Research, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, served as Master of Ceremony at the book launch of “Arogyasala, Wat Kham Pramong.” The event was held during the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2026 (PMAC 2026) under the theme “Navigating Global Demographic Transition through Innovative Policy: An Equity-Centered Approach,” at the Special Event Zone, 22nd Floor, Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld.
The term “Arogyasala” originates from the Pali language, meaning “a place free from illness” or “a place of good health.”
Arogyasala, Wat Kham Pramong is Thailand’s first hospital specializing in Thai traditional medicine and integrative medicine, focusing on palliative care for terminal cancer patients through the “Cheewaphiban” (holistic end-of-life care) approach, integrating Thai traditional medical wisdom, Buddhist principles, and modern medicine.
- Established in November 2004 | Provides services free of charge (medication, accommodation, and meals)
- Open to people of all genders, ages, ethnicities, and religions | Has provided care for more than 6,800 patients
- In 2024, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) officially registered it as a “Cheewaphiban Facility,” enabling patients to access services through Thailand’s Universal Health Coverage Scheme
