The Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Bhubate Samutachak, Chair of Cluster 1, organized an academic seminar entitled “Thai Society and Changes in Population and Family” on Thursday, 22 January 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Meeting Room 326, 3rd Floor, to disseminate knowledge on household structures, living arrangements, and social inequality amid demographic changes in Thailand and around the world.
The seminar was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan, Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research, who delivered the welcoming remarks. Professor Dr. Albert Esteve, Director of the Center for Demographic Studies (CED), addressed the objectives of the seminar. In addition, Mrs. Hataichanok Chinauparwat, Deputy Director of the National Statistical Office, presented information from the Household Socio-Economic Survey.

- Living Arrangements of Thai Youth During the Transition to Adulthood, 2002–2024: Trends and Inequalities, by Assistant Professor Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari
- The gender divide in living arrangements: global trends and contributing factors, by Ms. Rita Trias-Prat
- Developing a PCA-Based Wealth Index from Thailand’s Socio-Economic Survey, by Ms. Mananya Techalertkamol
- Socioeconomic Inequality in Youth Living Arrangements in Thailand (2002–2024), by Mr. Zarni Lynn Kyaw
The seminar served as an important platform for academic exchange on household structures, living arrangements across different life stages, and dimensions of social inequality. The insights gained are expected to contribute to policy development and planning to address Thailand’s future demographic changes.
