UNFPA’s Stakeholders Meeting: Recognising Achievements and Co-creating the Future

On November 19, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jongjit Rittirong of the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, were invited to serve as panelists at “UNFPA’s Stakeholders Meeting: Recognising Achievements and Co-creating the Future.” The meeting reported on UNFPA Thailand’s progress and discussed strategic directions and roles for the next five years. The program opened with a welcome from Dr. Julitta Onabanjo, UNFPA Representative to Thailand, and an opening address by Ms. Hathaichanok Chinuprawat, Deputy Director of the National Statistical Office, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. The event took place in Ballroom 2, 4th Floor, InterContinental Hotel, Ploenchit Road, Bangkok.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan presented the “Sustainable Life-Cycle Healthy-Ageing Analysis 2026 – 2031,” which assesses the country’s ageing burden across the life course and proposes policy options and budget allocation strategies to support dignified ageing alongside fair, accessible, and sustainable social systems and services.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jongjit Rittirong presented the Population Situation Analysis (PSA 2025), offering an overview of Thailand’s near- and long-term demographic trends, including population structure, fertility, mortality, migration, labour, and socio-economic impacts, to serve as a key evidence base for policy design to prepare for demographic change.

The panel underlined the crucial role of population research in informing policy decisions and provided a forum for government agencies, civil society, academics, and international organizations to jointly shape an evidence-based, long-term demographic agenda for Thailand.
