TPAK Participated as Speaker in Training Program for Youth Health Promotion Leaders: “Be Star After School Program” at Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok organized by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth)

On August 30, 2025, the project “Developing Community-Based Models for Promoting Physical Activity and Reducing Sedentary Behavior among Children and Youth”, under the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), organized a training workshop for youth health promotion leaders titled “Be Star After School Program.” The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of participants to serve as effective youth health promotion leaders, with a focus on knowledge management and activities designed through participatory community processes. The program sought to encourage children and youth to engage regularly in enjoyable physical activities, reduce sedentary behavior, and support their emotional development and social interaction.

The workshop was officially opened by Mr. Narong Tiammeak, ThaiHealth Senior Expert, and featured a keynote presentation by Asst. Prof. Dr. Areekul Amornsriwatanakul, College of Sports Science and Technology. Her presentation addressed strategies, current situations, and recommendations for promoting physical activity among Thai children and youth, including case studies from schools and communities, such as That Phanom School (Nakhon Phanom Province) and Ban Chom Bueng School (Ratchaburi Province).

During the workshop, Mr. Panya Choolert, Head of Research and Development, together with the research team from the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Centre (TPAK), Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, delivered a session on the Active Child Program (ACP): Japanese Play Activities for Adequate Physical Activity and Age-Appropriate Development. The session emphasized the concept of ACP, which promotes positive play experiences, diverse activity formats, and inclusive participation regardless of individual skills or limitations. Participants also engaged in hands-on practice of ACP activities to gain practical understanding and prepare to apply the approach as a tool for fostering physical activity, holistic skills, and healthy growth among children and youth.
