From June 24–25, 2025, at Aim-orn Grand A Room, Suanpa Resort, Surin Province, the “Smiley Delivery Team” from the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Surin Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) and the Equity Education Fund (EEF), organized a workshop on developing a provincial-level integrated database to support efforts in reducing educational inequality in Surin.
The event was honored by Ms. Suree Thammart, Deputy Chief Executive of the Surin PAO, who presided over the opening ceremony. Participants included stakeholders from public, private, and civil society sectors working with children and youth across Surin. A total of 50 participants attended the workshop. The main goal of the workshop was to develop a strategic provincial integrated database to support policy and action aimed at reducing educational disparities. A key focus was the development of a set of core indicators and resource inventories to form the foundation for a centralized provincial dashboard, designed to alert stakeholders to critical educational issues that may lead to inequality among children and youth in the province.
The IPSR Smiley Delivery Team, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa and the research team, facilitated participatory learning activities. These included group processes to co-create the core indicators and resource listings, along with user testing of the database and dashboard system. The tools aim to support effective tracking and proactive responses to educational disparities, laying the groundwork for a more equitable and sustainable education system in Surin Province.
