Field Visit for Data Collection on Tuberculosis Risk Among Inmates for TB CRG Assessment in Thailand Project at Mae Hong Son Provincial Prison

On March 7, 2025, the research team from the TB CRG Assessment in Thailand project at the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanokwan Tharawan, along with team members Ms. Kanya Apipornchaisakul and Mr. Phongsak Muensakda, conducted a field visit to Mae Hong Son Provincial Prison. The visit aimed to interview and collect data on inmates at risk of tuberculosis. During the visit, the research team engaged in discussions on treatment guidelines, inmates’ perspectives, life circumstances, and perceived barriers to care, with a focus on aligning findings with Thailand’s national tuberculosis strategic plan. The team was welcomed by the prison’s project management team and nursing staff, who provided valuable insights into the current practices and challenges in tuberculosis prevention and treatment within the facility.
