On February 28 and March 3, 2025, the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Centre (TPAK), Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, conducted a training session focused on the understanding and application of research instruments in preparation for the pilot field data collection under the Global Adolescent and Child Physical Activity Questionnaire (GAC-PAQ) project. This initiative is part of an international collaboration involving Thailand, Canada, and 14 other countries across six continents.
The GAC-PAQ project aims to develop a standardized, globally applicable questionnaire to assess physical activity levels in children and adolescents. At present, there is no comprehensive and consistent tool used across multiple countries. The development of this instrument seeks to enhance the accuracy of physical activity data collection and facilitate international comparisons.
The training was held at Room 323, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, and was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Asst. Prof. Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari, and Dr. Piyakrita Kaewpikul. A total of 8 participants attended the training. The session emphasized equipping researchers with a deep understanding of the GAC-PAQ tool, including the use of application-based instruments, to ensure precise and analyzable data collection from sample populations.
Participants were trained in the correct use of the GAC-PAQ tools to ensure that data collection aligns with international standards, thereby supporting the project’s readiness for implementation in real-world settings.
