On February 27 – 28, 2025, the Thailand Zero Dropout Support Team and the Development of Mechanisms and Database Systems to Support Area-Based Education Management (Send Smile Team) from the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Send Smile Regional Team, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornthai Sirisathitkit, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Wallaya Thammaphiban Intanin, Faculty of Education, Thaksin University, along with the Songkhla Provincial Education Office, the Volunteer for Happiness Association, and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), organized a workshop on “Using the Thailand Zero Dropout Information System.” The workshop aimed to address the issue of children and youth outside the education system in Songkhla Province. Mr. Sakarin Purinthraphiban, Chief of Songkhla Provincial Office, presided over the opening ceremony, while Mr. Muhanmad Dueramae, Deputy Provincial Education Officer of Songkhla, welcomed the 86 participants.
The event featured a special seminar on the project framework and operational guidelines for the provincial working group. Distinguished speakers included Mr. Muhanmad Dueramae, Deputy Provincial Education Officer of Songkhla; Mr. Nipon Rattanakorn, President of the Volunteer for Happiness Association and leader of the Area-Based Education Management (ABE) project to reduce educational inequality in Songkhla Province, and Mr. Sathapana Thammamora, Permanent Secretary of Bor Daeng Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The seminar, moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornthai Sirisathitkit, provided an opportunity for participants to exchange insights and experiences, enhancing their understanding of collaborative efforts to reintegrate children and youth into the education system.
The training aimed to familiarize participants with the Thailand Zero Dropout Information System, including the system’s questionnaire and its application within their respective roles. Participants were also expected to transfer knowledge to their respective provincial working groups. Attendees included key personnel responsible for driving the Thailand Zero Dropout initiative, along with project staff and agencies assigned to three key roles: Surveyor, Case Manager (CM), and System Administrator (Admin) at both the provincial and sub-district levels.
