Presentation of Work at the Food Integration and Social Innovation Forum: “Integrating Food Systems Networks to Create Balanced Consumption”

On October 15, 2024, the team, from the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, in collaboration with (1) the Research Project on Healthy food chain management and effective interventions for reducing access to unhealthy foods in Thai population, (2) the Research Project on Food and nutrition research to inform food and nutrition policies and practices in Thailand, (3) the Survey Project on the Consumption Behavior of Sweetened Beverages and Healthier Choice Labeled Beverages to Drive the Policy on Promoting Healthy Food, and (4) the Study Project on the Food Consumption Situation, Food Security, and Food Literacy of the Thai Population, participated in the Food Integration and Social Innovation Forum under the theme “Integrating Food System Networks to Create Balanced Consumption” at the Grand Richmond Stylish Convention Hotel, Nonthaburi Province.

Highlights of the forum include:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manasigan Kanchanachitra, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, and Ms. Kanyapat Suttikasem, Research Practitioner (Expert Level), presented findings from the project on analyzing effective measures to increase vegetable and fruit consumption among Thai youth.
  • Dr. Sarunya Sujaritpong, DVM, presented the topic “Green Procurement in Schools” during a panel discussion on “Findings from Research on Green Procurement in Schools.” This topic garnered significant interest from various networks and media, and Dr. Sarunya was invited for interviews by media outlets regarding this issue.
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirinya Phulkerd presented on the topic “Know Before You Choose Food” in the discussion titled “Awareness in Eating for Balanced Health and a Sustainable Food System.”

The objectives of this forum were to: 1) Present and communicate key food-related policies that ThaiHealth aims to promote within society. 2) Serve as a platform for engaging stakeholders in food system planning by presenting and disseminating innovative knowledge and practical insights to raise public awareness. And 3) Foster collaboration between the Healthy Food Plan and various departments within ThaiHealth, as well as other partner organizations working on food-related issues.
