On September 8-9, 2024, at the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Director of the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Center (TPAK), along with the research team, introduced the project, focusing on human research ethics (IRB) and data protection (PDPA). Ms. Nattaporn Nilwatta, Head of the Situation and Policy Analysis Group, Mr. Apichat Saengsawang, Ms. Panitchaya Limsiri and Mr. Krisana Aramsri presented on research methodologies, fieldwork processes, and conducted workshops to understand and test the questionnaire. They also introduced the use of the questionnaire on Lime Survey and emphasized the importance of the Data Quality system to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of data for research, led by Mr. Danusorn Potharin, Head of the Database Development and Forecasting Group.
This activity aimed to analyze and utilize the data to promote physical activity for Thai children and youth under the Physical Activity Promotion Plan for Children and Youth (2023-2030). It also aimed to plan a comprehensive approach to promoting physical activity, covering policy development, creating opportunities for physical activity during various times, providing spaces for activity, promoting quality physical education, and designing activities for special needs groups. The pilot schools will implement these strategies effectively, following the key recommendations of the Whole-of-School Approach to Physical Activity by the World Health Organization. The program is intended to expand to other schools in the future.
