International Conference on “Enhancing Well-Being by Realizing Family Dynamics and Promoting Intergenerational Solidarity for an Inclusive Society”

From September 4-6, 2024, the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the College of Population Studies, Chulalongkorn University, and the Department of Older Persons, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, organized the international conference titled “Enhancing Well-Being by Realizing Family Dynamics and Promoting Intergenerational Solidarity for an Inclusive Society.” The event took place at the Meeting Room, 3rd floor, Arnoma Grand Hotel, Bangkok.

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tawanchai Jirapramukpitak presented on the topic “Discuss effective policies and practices to promote healthy aging, ensuring the overall health and well-being of older adults” under the theme Advancing Health and Well-being into Old Age (Life Course Perspective), with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jongjit Rittirong as the moderator and Asst. Prof. Dr. Truc Ngoc Hoang Dang as the group discussion leader, while students from the institute took notes during the group discussion.
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suthida Chuanwan presented on the topic “Explores innovative elderly care practices and intergenerational program designs aimed at enhancing health and wellness for all ages” under the theme Innovative Practices in Elderly Care and Wellness & Designing Intergenerational Programs for Health and Wellness, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan.

Additionally, Emeritus Prof. Dr. Pramote Prasartkul, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sureeporn Punpuing, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bhubate Samutachak participated in the discussion, providing valuable insights during the conference.

  • Dr. Sergey Ryazantsev participated as a conference summarizer and drafted recommendations.

The objective of this conference was to promote academic collaboration on aging issues between networks and partners both domestically and internationally. It also aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences that can be applied in developing projects and policies to improve the quality of life and welfare of older adults. Additionally, the conference sought to build cooperative networks and promote the study of strategies for enhancing the potential of people of all ages, in alignment with the current context of the aging population.
