EEF, the World Bank, and Mahidol University organize a ‘Master Trainer’ workshop on provincial basic life skills surveys

During August 19-23, 2024, the Provincial Basic Life Skills Survey Promotion Team (Sending Smile Team) from the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, co-organized the “Master Trainer” workshop on provincial basic life skills surveys at the Venus 1 Meeting Room, IMPACT Exhibition Center. The workshop was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Dr. Burathep Chokthananukoon, along with lecturers from the regional Sending Smile team, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anlaya Smuseneto, Asst. Prof. Muhammadrorfi-Ee Musor from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus,  Dr. Nutchanat Muenchan, Dr. Wiwan Sukcharoen Ketkaew from the Faculty of Business Administration and Communication Arts at the University of Phayao, and the Sending Smile team researchers from the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University. They facilitated group discussions on preparing for field surveys, analyzing provincial team roles, and preparing the project working groups in all three provinces: Phayao, Pattani, and Rayong. The workshop also featured qualified speakers from the World Bank and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF).

This training aimed to provide an overview and standards for assessing youth and labor force readiness skills, prepare participants for field surveys, and practice the assessment of basic life skills, including literacy skills, digital skills, and emotional and social skills. The goal was to ensure that data collection is conducted efficiently and to standard, which will contribute to the development of education and labor policies that are appropriate for the provincial context and meet national needs.
