A Workshop to Prepare Measures for Promoting Physical Activity Among Pregnant and Postpartum Women.

From January 28 to 31, 2024, the research team of the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Center (TPAK) at the Population and Social Research Institute, Mahidol University, collaborated with the Physical Activity Division for Health at the Department of Health, Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Public Health Office, and Health Center 10, Ubon Ratchathani. Together, they organized a workshop to prepare for measures aimed at promoting physical activity among pregnant and postpartum women. The workshop focused on testing the effectiveness of a service package, including guidelines for promoting physical activity for pregnant and postpartum women (PA Pregnant and Postpartum Woman Guideline) for professional nurses and related public health academics.

Mr. Nipon Kulnit, Assistant Director of Health Center No. 10, Ubon Ratchathani, honored the opening ceremony with a welcoming speech at the Busarakam meeting room, Health Center 10, Ubon Ratchathani.

The objective of the workshop was to prepare various tools and a service set, including guidelines for promoting physical activity among pregnant and postpartum women. Participants received lectures on the importance of imparting knowledge and recommendations for using various tools to promote physical activity in these women. Topics covered included physical activity assessment, risk assessment, knowledge sharing, guidelines for setting physical activity goals during pregnancy and postpartum, and exercise programs tailored for each trimester. The tools discussed were intended to be utilized in providing real services to pregnant women at maternal and child health service clinics at Health Center 10, Ubon Ratchathani, in preparation for expanding operations to antenatal clinics nationwide.

Additionally, the research team conducted a discussion meeting to summarize the lessons learned from testing tools and guidelines for promoting physical activity among pregnant and postpartum women. This collaboration with professional nurses and public health personnel serves as a learning point for refining tools to be more effective.
