Between July 26-27, 2023, the support team for driving area-based education management to reduce inequality, known as Team Smile, from the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, conducted a lecture as part of a learning exchange. The lecture focused on the topic “Game Changers in Education: The Future Direction of Thai Education.” This exchange took place through workshop activities with the goal of establishing a sustainable strategy for area-based education management. The aim was to create a process of learning exchange based on concrete operations of area-based education management and to share educational management practices at the regional level. The event invited participants to envision the future by “making dreams” and designing education for children and youth, leading towards “building a plan.” This involved setting up a strategic plan to drive the work for a period of one year. The teaching team included members of the regional Smile team, working group teachers, and researchers from the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University. They served as speakers, discussing the process of forming dream groups and establishing educational goals for Thai children and youth in the future. The information exchanged during this event was derived from forums in the 12 model provinces, which are: 1.Samut Songkhram Province 2.Surin Province 3.Phayao Province 4.Lampang Province 5.Rayong Province 6.Khon Kaen Province 7.Songkhla Province 8.Surat Thani Province 9.Pattani Province 10.Mae Hong Son Province 11.Phitsanulok Province 12.Sukhothai Province The ultimate goal of this effort is to lead the way in creating a strategic plan for implementing area-based education management. The opening forum for this knowledge exchange was presided over by Dr. Kritsanapong Keeratikorn, Chairman of the Area-Based Education Management Sub-Committee for the Equitable Education Fund (FFE).
