On July 9, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa, Director of the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Centre (TPAK), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari, Head of the Academic Network Development Group at TPAK, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, were invited by the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office to share their expertise in a webinar. The event focused on the research study, “National, Regional, and Global Trends in Insufficient Physical Activity among Adults from 2000 to 2022: A Pooled Analysis of 507 Population-Based Surveys with 5.7 Million Participants,” published in The Lancet Global Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As representatives of the Thai academic data team involved in this significant study, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyawat Katewongsa and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dyah Anantalia Widyastari exchanged insights on physical activity trends, situational analysis, and proposals for policy development aimed at promoting physical activity in Asia and Southeast Asia. The session included participation from policy makers and academic working groups from 11 member countries in the region, fostering a rich discussion on the findings and implications for future health initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
