On August 29, 2024, during the online “SUNRISE 2024 Annual General Meeting” organized by the African region, the SUNRISE Thailand research team was honored with the “Planning Award: Most Prepared Before Data Collection.” This award recognizes research teams that demonstrate exceptional preparation before data collection. #IPSRRealWorldImpacts #IPSRvisibility

The SUNRISE project focuses on promoting physical activity and developing behavioral measurement and monitoring tools. It aims to enhance cognitive development, growth, and age-appropriate development in early childhood through sufficient physical activity. Additionally, the project seeks to expand the academic network on physical activity for children and youth. Currently, the network includes members from 63 countries across all continents. The SUNRISE Thailand team comprises a collaboration between the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), the Thailand Physical Activity Knowledge Development Center (TPAK), the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, and local administrative organizations in Ubon Ratchathani Province.

This achievement not only provides an excellent opportunity for Thai researchers to exchange experiences and learn from the global research network, but it also demonstrates Thailand’s excellence in physical activity research on an international level. It marks a significant step in advancing physical activity knowledge, developing strategies, and creating concepts for future collaboration. This will further drive the SUNRISE research project and the development of physical activity initiatives in Thailand.
