Politics of Urban Green Space

Politics of Urban Green Space

Abstract

According to WHO, in 2020 half of the world population will be urban population. The rapid global urbanization has been center of concerns, especially the question about urban sustainability. Urban green space has been promoted by global agency as a solution to this concern. Unarguably, urban green space will improve living condition both human and non-human. However, on the flip side, there are some serious underlying concerns about the urban green space, especially the question about who gets the benefits and who is excluded. This “greening of the cities” talk will elaborate on 2 points 1) the relationship between cities and environment/nature 2) the understanding of greening of the cities as a class phenomenon. Moreover, we have to keep in mind that those who give their labor in the city should have right to the city the build.
