Writing Workshop – Mahidol & Kobe University “Between Global Sex Work and Human Trafficking: An Analysis of Interviews and Networks”

On 24–25 May 2025, the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, led by Prof. Dr. Sureeporn Punpuing, Head of the Thailand Project, in collaboration with Prof. Kaoru Ayoma of Kobe University, Japan, organized the Writing Workshop – Mahidol & Kobe University on the topic “Between Global Sex Work and Human Trafficking: An Analysis of Interviews and Networks.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Chamchan, Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research, delivered the welcome address. Participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sudarat Musikawong, Asst. Prof. Dr. Dusita Phuengsamran, and Mr. Niphon Darawuttimaprakorn. The workshop was held at the Phayathai 2514 (VIP) Room, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University.

The workshop was supported by the Global Partnership Division, Mahidol University, the Institute for Population and Social Research, and Kobe University. Participants came from Japan, France, Indonesia, and Thailand. The event served as a platform for collaboration, networking, and collective brainstorming, with the goal of producing 2–3 academic articles for publication in international (Q1) journals and disseminating research briefs to relevant academics and policymakers.
